Airports Council International–North America announced the winners of the 2014 Excellence in Airport Marketing and Communications Award this week. We were excited to see so many of the airports we work with on a regular basis listed as award recipients.

Communications as a role in operating an airport and implementing improvements is critical to its success. The airport must be proactive and engage the public, and select the best media for the message it wants and/or needs to convey. Technology makes this ever challenging but also provides the opportunity to improve communications. The difference between great public outreach, bringing together key stakeholders, and effectively explaining issues in a timely manner can make-or-break a project and an airport’s credibility with the public. And with so many of our airport clients, their effort (outcomes) is stellar.

We wholeheartedly agree with ACI-NA President and CEO Kevin M. Burke’s statement, “From our large hubs to our small airports, the imagination and skill on display throughout all the entries of this year’s contest are testament to the commitment airports make to engaging and connecting with the communities that they connect to the rest of the world.”

Again congratulations to all the winners and a special shout-out to our clients (you know who you are!).
