Mead & Hunt is invested in developing the next generation of architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) professionals. To increase the diversity and depth of the talent pool in the AEC industry, our scholarship program expands access to education and careers.
Supporting the next generation of talent is vital to the future of our industry. We’ve committed to helping six promising AEC students achieve their highest potential. This year we offered four $2,500 scholarships to current college students studying in an AEC field, and two $2,500 scholarships to high school seniors who are ethnic minorities planning to student an AEC major in college.
Our projects shape communities and impact people’s lives. Increasing diversity fosters a more resilient and capable industry. Diverse teams bring various perspectives, experiences, and ideas—leading to more inclusive and equitable outcomes.
Meet Our 2024 External Scholarship Winners
We are pleased to announce the Mead & Hunt External $2,500 scholarship winners this year.
Ana Granados will be studying Architecture at University or Notre Dame. During her family trips to Mexico, Ana saw many families that did not have a shelter to live in, which fueled her ambition. She was inspired to channel her artistic abilities and interest in math and engineering into architecture to bring her vision of affordable housing to life.
Heidi Longmeier will be studying Urban Planning at the University of Washington. Heidi is passionate about addressing the lack of community engagement caused by car-centricity and economic disparities among predominantly low-income communities. She’s dedicating her career to pioneering a suburban and walkable model of a community that is cost-effective, environmentally sustainable, and universally implementable.
Jennifer Austin is studying Architectural Technology at Madison Area Technical College. She hopes her designs will foster kinship and community. Jennifer used to be a chef and is excited for this career change as a new way to bring people together and make a positive impact in her community.
Jeffrey Guiette is studying Electrical Engineering at the University of Colorado, Denver. Jeffery is passionate about exploring innovative ways to harness and create energy efficiently, ensuring its widespread availability. He hopes to contribute meaningfully to the well-being of our planet and people.
Rishi Prasanna Patil is studying Civil Engineering at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Rishi is a veteran who plans to live by a phrase used often during his time in the military: “Do the right thing, even when nobody’s watching.” He is passionate about giving back to his community, whether it’s through his project work or helping students as a course assistant while he is in school.
Mia Gallagher is studying Civil Engineering at California Polytechnic State University. Mia is most interested in structural engineering but is excited to explore different disciplines within the field. She is currently conducting research and assisting with the plans for water filtration projects in South America and performing survey on a restoration project.
