Corridor design delivers safe route
The city of Maple Valley was increasing emphasis on community recreation and safety along a busy traffic corridor and wanted to update a previous study to reflect the current realities. Our infrastructure engineers performed a new corridor study that proved the Witte Road corridor needed both bicycle and pedestrian facilities. Our team next completed the corridor redesign, and is managing construction.
Prior to the redesign, our public outreach professionals conducted a robust public involvement process. We used design charrettes, neighborhood meetings and social media to gain the highest level of stakeholder input. Our efforts clearly identified city and community needs for the corridor. This feedback was incorporated into final design that provides important safety and non-motorized improvements and drastically reduced overall project costs.
