The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) requires that an independent consultant inspect and evaluate high hazard potential hydroelectric projects every five years. We have been performing Part 12 safety inspections on hydroelectric facilities since the program was established in 1967. Since then, we have performed nearly 600 safety inspections at hydroelectric projects on dams throughout the United States.
In 2003, the FERC began requiring potential failure modes analysis (PFMA) as part of the Part 12 safety inspection and Dam Safety Performance Monitoring Programs. Since the initiation of these programs, we have supplied inspection and facilitation services for more than 70 hydroelectric projects in eleven states across the country.
