The Aspen-Pitkin County Airport (ASE) is a commercial service non-hub airport with significant environmental and terrain constraints. We used an in-depth and fully integrated public involvement process to update the airport master plan.
Located at the narrow end of a high mountain valley, the airport is hemmed in by imposing land features and a significant amount of commercial development. A high number of stakeholders were critically concerned about and interested in any potential development in the Roaring Fork River Valley. We constantly updated the project website to address those concerns. Though a challenge, our team revised the previous plans, forecasts and assumptions to prepare a modernized long-term planning program.
