Like any good origin story, the lore of the Mead & Hunt bobblehead developed unexpectedly.
It started as a holiday card in the early 2000s. Looking for a way to spread cheer and have some fun, we created a bobblehead (who become known as Bob) to send to clients, vendors, partners and friends. We had sent toys before, and thought the excitement would wear off after the new year. But it didn’t. Soon, employees and our many recipients were sharing photos of the Bob the bobblehead on vacations, project sites, client meetings, and more – for years to come.
To celebrate our 120th anniversary as a firm, we decided to reinvigorate the trend: we created a new bobblehead representing our founder, Daniel Mead. This version of our founder is wearing a vintage suit and sporting a bow tie (Mead & Hunt red, of course) – just how we’ve seen Mr. Mead in historic photographs from the early years of our company. He’s also adorned with something else: our purpose statement. This bobblehead was sent to every employee at our company as a reminder of what we’re all about.
Why Daniel Mead? Through study, stories, and other research, we’ve learned that Daniel Mead’s legacy is one of strong ethics, skill development, relationship building, and passion for the profession. We’ve centered on the idea of building relationships. At its core, a good relationship is putting the other person first. The consulting industry is about building community. Together, we make planning and design decisions for the best possible outcome.
This is our purpose: We shape the future by putting people first. It’s exactly what we think Daniel Mead would do.
If you have an original bobblehead in your possession, you have a collectible. One of these days, when we are seeing each other in-person more frequently again, you may see a 120th anniversary Daniel Mead bobblehead make a guest appearance on your project site, conference, or in a meeting. Snap a photo with him and send it our way!
