Our future's so bright ...

Ontario, CA, office

If you’ve started your summer road trips, you know construction season is in full swing. In my community, I am taking roads less traveled to avoid closed exit and entrance ramps – but it’s worth it to travel safer, more reliable roadways.

Speaking of safe, we’ve been working hard as a company to remind employees that a “safety first, always, and last” mindset is critical to our company’s success. We recently held a Safety Day in June, asking employees to don their brightest safety apparel or neon clothing in honor of the day. I hear that team members in some office locations were blindingly bright in their attire! This was a good reminder for those of us who only think of safety vests as field attire. Paying attention and taking precautions is necessary in the office as well (minus the safety green clothing and hard hats).

Another recent summer campaign allowed our offices to participate in a daylighting exercise. Over the lunch hour, some of our locations turned off their lights and relied on nature to keep things bright in the office. What a great reminder of how we are using our resources. In our land of plenty and epic levels of busy, it takes extra effort to flip off light switches, turn off running water, abandon air conditioning for open windows.

What are you opening your eyes to this summer?
